NOTE: This method does not apply to terminals that are set up to use Full web services. See other document for this method.
NOTE: Before proceeding, ensure that the terminal has been polled up-to-date and that the Poller application or service that is currently used to poll the terminal has been stopped.
A firmware upgrade will wipe all employees and their transactions from the terminals.
If the Poller is active then the firmware upgrade may not proceed successfully.
Performing a Firmware Upgrade
The latest terminal firmware (7.48.5.1) can be downloaded from the link below:
(this is likely to change in future - please contact Mitrefinch support if the link is dead)
Extract the contents of the .zip file to an accessible location on a WINTMS client or server.
The .luz file contains the firmware that MFUTIL will use to upgrade the terminal.
Check that the Poller (.exe or service) has been stopped.
Launch MFUTIL which can be found in the main TMS program directory.
This will display the following screen:
MFUTIL is a standard Mitrefinch utility that can be used to communicate to terminals without using the poller application.
Go to Utilities -> Upgrade firmware and move the terminals you wish to upgrade to the Selected side and click OK.
Navigate to the .luz file and click OK.
Note: The firmware upgrade process will take a few minutes for each terminal selected. Depending on the age of the firmware being upgraded some of the files will not be required.
Once the process has completed the version can be checked via Utilities -> View -> Firmware versionThis will should now show:
Version=AC7.48.5 for Access control units
Version=MF7.48.5 for Clocks
Once the upgrade has completed the upgraded terminal(s) will show: Master Reset
Waiting For Config
Once the Poller service or executable has been restarted it will recognise that the terminals are in Master Reset mode and send the relevant configuration file, timezones and employee data. This can take a few minutes to commence and the terminal may reboot several times during the configuration process.
