Performing a Mitrefinch terminal firmware upgrade on a 900 series clock or access control unit.
NOTE: This method applies to terminals that connect via full web services.
NOTE: Before proceeding, ensure that the terminal has been polled up-to-date and that the Poller application or service that is currently used to poll the terminal has been stopped. The web service needs to be running.

A firmware upgrade will wipe all employees and their transactions from the terminals.
If the Poller service is active then the firmware upgrade may not proceed successfully.

Documentation and release notes can be obtained from https://www.mitrefinch-support.com/downloads/HW_ENG/FIRMWAREv7.48.5.1.zip
(this is likely to change in future - please contact Mitrefinch support if the link is dead)
This file will also include a copy of the firmware for hosting on an internal website if desired.

Performing a Firmware Upgrade

The first part if the process will put the firmware on the TMS web server and make it available for distribution to the terminals.

Log into TMS8 for web as the Master user and navigate to the Terminal site planner.
From here click Terminal upgrades -> Add upgrade file

->

Add your own description and the URL of the location of the terminal firmware.

Click Submit

Next validate the upgrade file.  On the Terminal site planner click Terminal upgrades and click on the link for the firmware

->

Then click Validate file

The above process only needs to be done once.

The firmware is now available to be distributed to the terminals.

To do this schedule a new job via the Terminal site planner

Select Download upgrade file to the terminal as the job type and select All terminals.

This action will prepare the teminals for the upgrade by sending the .wuz file to them.
It does not apply the upgrade to the terminal at this point.
This can take some time to complete.

The upgrade is applied to each terminal by sending a Perform upgrade job.
From the Terminal site planner click on a terminal then Schedule job

 Select Perform upgrade as the job type then Submit

This process can take a few minutes to complete.  The terminal may reboot more than once.
If the upgrade is being applied to a Mitrefinch access control unit the door(s) it controls may lock/unlock during this time.
Following a successful update each terminal will require a full employee download and where necessary a download of Timezones TAS validation tables etc.
