The Group skills feature is a record of any skills, expertise or competencies your Employees have acquired that are recorded in TMS. If your Employees skills are linked to training records in TMS then the details can be accessed from the Group Skills feature.
By default, Group skills opens displaying the Skills for the Employees in the Group you selected from the drop-down list at the top of the Supervisor Dashboard.
However, if the Preference: Use extended selection has been set in the Selection options (see Selection options for more details) you will be able to use a customised range of Employees in the Group function by clicking on the extended Group drop-down list. See Selecting employees for more details.
Note: By default, any logged in Supervisor can view the skills for all the Employees in TMS. This differs from other Group functions but allows a Supervisor to find Employees with essential skills such as First Aid using the Search for skills action in the left-hand pane. Your system administrator can restrict the selection of Employees to those a Supervisor has access to. |
To display Group skills, select Skills from the Group menu in the drop-down Header pane. It can also be accessed from the Menu and Shortcuts widgets which may be displayed on your Supervisor dashboard. A page similar to the following will open:
There is one row for each of your selected Employees and one column for each skill. Skills are displayed in alphabetical order. A selected check-box indicates that an Employee has acquired the particular skill. In the previous example, the Employee '000001: Andy Overton' has the 'FIRE' (Fire Warden), 'MAINTENANC' (Maintenance) and 'SUPERVISOR' (Supervision) skills.
Certain skills can be linked to a training record in TMS, in the above example F/AID, FIRE and KITCHEN skills are linked and can be clicked on to open the Qualification page with details of the record. Also, depending on how your initial system is set-up, skills can represent different fields. The F/AID, FIRE and KITCHEN skills have been set to display a number and colour code to represent different levels of competency. Hovering over the number will bring up a tool-tip that describes their competency level. For example:
The total number of selected Employees with each skill is shown at the bottom of the Group Skills grid.
The grid can be rotated to change skills from columns to rows and Employees from rows to columns by clicking on the 'Rotate' button available in the top-right corner of the page.
You can choose which skills to display in the grid in Modify preferences on the top-right.
Note: all available skills are displayed by default when you first navigate to this page. |
When you have finished selecting and clearing the relevant check-boxes, click Apply in the left-hand pane to update any changes made to the Employees skills.
